Klimkin called myths of the claim that the owners of the two passports will be problems crossing the state border of Ukraine

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin called myths claim that people with dual citizenship will be deported from Ukraine or they will have problems crossing the state border, but stressed that the owners of a Hungarian passport can’t be civil servants in Ukraine.

“Of course, there’s an emotional wave around the fact that we sent the Hungarian Consul. I again explained that we do not blame the Hungarians that they get a second citizenship that we want to punish them for it. Second citizenship is not stipulated by the Ukrainian legislation, but direct punishment is not” — he said at a briefing in Uzhgorod (Zakarpattya oblast) on Saturday after participating in the meeting of the “Society of Hungarian culture of Transcarpathia” (TUKZ).

The Minister stressed that the condemnation of the petitions of the deportation from Ukraine of people who have received the second Hungarian citizenship, even if they made it illegal.

“I explained once again: don’t worry. Because there are some myths circulating that everyone with two passports will now deport Someone deported? Why? That will not pass through the border… Why? And these myths, they are really subject to, and are part of the Hungarian land, we know… But nevertheless, it is certainly a provocative petition, we must condemn. But we also must say clearly: follow all Ukrainian laws. If dual citizenship is not stipulated by the Ukrainian laws, these laws must be enforced…. Again article 19 of the law on public service – if you have dual citizenship, you can’t be a public servant,” — said P. Klimkin.

He noted that all the representatives of the Hungarian community expressed willingness to comply with Ukrainian laws.

“We agreed. We need to work on this further, but should reduce the emotional degree and to raise the degree of intelligence and commitment… this is also going to talk with the Hungarian side,” — said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
