Lukashenko: Belarus is against the split in the Orthodox Church

Official Minsk sensitive about all the processes taking place in the Orthodox world, and it does not support the split. Reports replyua.net with reference to “RIA Novosti”, stated the Belarusian head of state Alexander Lukashenko. It should be noted that today in Minsk will pass session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, the main issue will be the assessment of the actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in Ukraine and the development of response measures of the Russian Orthodox Church.

“You must know our unwavering position as a nation. It lies in the fact that the split is always bad and it’s bad effects… And the consequences are dangerous,” – said Lukashenko at the meeting with Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill. He also added that Belarus is “very sensitive to what is happening in Orthodoxy.”

“As a congregation we will strive to maintain the unity of all the processes for the preservation of peace on earth… too close we came to a dangerous point,” – said Lukashenko.
