Russia may release of Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov, if the United States will give Moscow three Russian citizens who are in prison in America.

About it reports the Russian edition “Novaya Gazeta”, citing a source close to the negotiations about the exchange of prisoners between Russia and Ukraine.

According to the interlocutor of the edition, Russia is seeking to extradite Maria Butunoi, Viktor bout and Konstantin Yaroshenko. The latter is serving in the U.S. 20-year sentence for drug smuggling, Bout was sentenced to 25 years in prison for arms trafficking and support of terrorism. Mary Butina was arrested in the US in July this year, and is suspected of illegal lobbying of interests of Russia in America.

“Moscow is ready to discuss a “humanitarian action” directly with Washington, while Ukraine is not a party to the negotiations,” the source told “Novaya Gazeta”.

The official representative the Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova said that it is not aware of such initiatives. The newspaper reminds that during the telephone conversation of heads of foreign policy departments of the USA and Russia Mike Pompeo and Sergey Lavrov, which was held in August of this year, Pompeo raised the issue about the release of Sentsov and Lavrov, in turn, spoke of “unlawful detainment” in US prisons these Russians.

Sentsov’s lawyer Dmitry Dinze has informed that knows nothing about such plans for the exchange.

“If there is a real willingness of the [government of Russia] to the exchange offer, and we are ready to discuss concrete actions. We just need to understand how serious these talks,” he said.

Recall, 25 August 2015, the Ukrainian Director Oleg Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment in a strict regime colony. He was accused in Russia of preparing to commit terrorist acts in Simferopol, Sevastopol and Yalta. May 14, 2018 Sentsov announced an indefinite hunger strike. The only condition for termination is the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners who are on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Sentsov refused to ask Putin for pardon. According to his lawyer, he has a very low pulse, anaemia and heart problems, but the hunger strike to refuse he is not going to.
