Russian sanctions against Kiev will block Ukrainian assets in Russia and prohibit withdrawal of financial capital.
This was stated to journalists by the Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, reports TASS.
“What are you talking about? We are talking, firstly, about the freezing of their assets located in the territory of the Russian Federation, i.e. the prohibition to commit to them any action. Second, prohibiting the transfer of funds that are the sources located on the territory of the Russian Federation. That is, to ban the export of capital,” – said Medvedev, adding that he intends to sign the decisions on sanctions in the near future.
According to him, the sanctions will affect a large number of individuals in Ukraine. “There will be a lot of famous people”, – said the Prime Minister. He said that today already prepared several versions of resolutions of the government of the Russian Federation on the introduction of sanctions against Ukraine.
“Proposal for the decree (President of Russia) will be prepared in a very short time. I already have a version of several government regulations. These decisions, of course, reflect the meaning of the decree. They concluded that sanctions are imposed against those who harm the interests of the Russian Federation”, – said the Prime Minister.
“If we talk about individuals, then in all likelihood, it will be hundreds of people who by their actions have caused harm to our country. There will be business representatives, and other people, it depends on the discretion of the Russian side, that is, those proposals which will formulate the government”, – said Medvedev.
He added: “Naturally, the list also includes Ukrainian companies, that is, a legal entity incorporated under the laws of Ukraine, which are somehow controlled by such citizens, which imposed these sanctions.”
The Prime Minister said that Moscow may ban for shipments on the territory of Russia a number of Ukrainian goods. “We will focus on how to ban certain categories of goods that are produced in Ukraine, in order to put them in the Russian Federation”, – said Medvedev.
He assured that the Russian response would not touch the majority of Ukrainians. “Sanctions are imposed against those who “harm” the interests of the Russian Federation. Neither the decree [of the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin “On application of special economic measures in connection with the unfriendly actions of Ukraine in relation to citizens and legal entities of the Russian Federation”], no government regulations will not apply to Ukrainians overall, this is absolutely unacceptable,” – said the Russian Prime Minister.

Earlier, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that Putin’s decree suggests retaliatory sanctions on Ukraine’s actions, which will not affect Ukrainians residing in Russia.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on October 22, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On application of special economic measures in connection with the unfriendly actions of Ukraine in relation to citizens and legal entities of the Russian Federation”.
The decision was made in response to “unfriendly and contrary to international law, Ukraine’s actions related to the introduction of restrictive measures in relation to citizens and legal entities of the Russian Federation, to protect the national interests of the Russian Federation”.
The government is supposed to compile lists of individuals and legal entities in respect of which are special economic measures; to identify the special economic measures applied against natural and legal persons; to ensure, in accordance with their competence implementation of other measures necessary for the implementation of the decree.
