On 27 June the staff of management of supervision of observance of laws by bodies engaged in combating organized crime General Prosecutor’s office drew up a notification on suspicion of two deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation for Commission of an offence under part 3 of article 258-5 of the criminal code (Financing of terrorism).

“Two deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, in the territory of Moscow, in March – June 2014 with the purpose of material support of terrorist organizations “LNR” and “DNR”… acting in public, with the participation of representatives of the “DNR” in the presence of the media urged citizens of the Russian Federation to raise funds for material support “LNR” and “DNR”, and also provided the placement of relevant ads on the websites of the party and the opening of centres in Russia in the collection of relevant funds”, – stated in the message.

It is noted that the suspects acted within an organized Vladimir Zhirinovsky of the criminal group, which also included some deputies of the state Duma and members of the liberal democratic party of Russia including leaders and representatives of regional branches of the party.

These MPs also signed an agreement on financial support “DNR” and provided its participants with space on the territory of Moscow for representational activities.

In addition, due to the suspects of the funds raised under the leadership of Vladimir Zhirinovsky, acting, in particular, at the request of the leader of a group of fighters of “Somalia” Mikhail Tolstoy (call sign “Givi”), for 2014-2017, has put illegal formations 6 vehicles of Russian production with high inputs and operational capabilities, some of which was used during attacks against military and law enforcement units of Ukraine. The Prosecutor’s office recalled that on 12 September 2014 the EU imposed economic sanctions against Russia “for assistance in destabilizing the situation in Ukraine and occupation of Crimea”, and these sanctions include individual restrictive measures, namely a prohibition in the granting of visas and freezing of assets against individuals, including those against Vladimir Zhirinovsky and one of the deputies, who notified of the suspicion.

The same sanctions were imposed by Canada, Australia and Switzerland, 28 April 2014, 1 September 2014 and 12 November 2014 and June 2018 the EU extended the sanctions for another six months.

In addition, in relation to Zhirinovsky and other persons decree of the President of Ukraine from 15.05.2017 No. 133/2017 the decision of the NSDC of Ukraine dated 28 April 2017 “On the use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”, which provides for the refusal and cancellation of visas, the application of other prohibitions of entry to Ukraine; the freezing of assets and temporary restriction of the right to enjoy and dispose of property belonging to it.

Reference to UNIAN. According to part 1 of article 42 of the code of criminal procedure, a suspect is, in particular, a person in respect of whom drafted the notice of suspicion, but wow is not awarded due to failure to identify the whereabouts of this person, however, steps have been taken to this presentation.
