The European Union Commissioner for European neighbourhood policy and negotiations to expand Johannes Hahn urged the Ukrainian authorities to prosecute organisers of attacks on the Ukrainian activists.

According to the report of the EU Mission in the microblog Twitter, the Commissioner paid a visit to Ukraine and held the first meeting in Ukraine, and from community activists and lawyer Catherine Gandzyuk.

“The attacks on activists are unacceptable, they are those responsible should be brought to responsibility,” said Khan.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on July 31 in Kherson unknown had sulfuric acid thrown in the face of the management of the Affairs of the Kherson city Council Gandzyuk. A woman with chemical burns over 30% of the body was admitted to a local hospital. She later transferred for treatment at the Kyiv city burn center.

The police qualified the attack on the clerk as an attempted murder committed with special cruelty.

The police found five people, who objectively are suspected of organizing and committing crimes and all of them, the court elected a measure of restraint. Currently in custody are Sergey Torbin and Nikita, Grabczuk, the rest – Vyacheslav Vishnevsky, Vladimir Vasyanovych and Viktor Gorbunov – the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of a round-the-clock house arrest.

4 Nov Gandzyuk died. On the same day, the investigators changed the qualification of the attack on the activist, qualifying him as a completed crime.

November 5 the interior Ministry announced the execution by police of all necessary investigative actions on the case Gandzyuk and the transfer of criminal proceedings in the SBU, which deals with the investigation on establishment of customers of a crime.

According to Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko, police check 12 people for involvement in ordering the murder of Gandzyuk.
