The high representative of the European Union for foreign Affairs and security policy Federica Mogherini during the meeting with the foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin confirmed the immutability of the approaches of the EU on sanctions against Russia with the goal of full implementation of the Minsk agreements, as well as the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“The European Union remains on the positions of the full and unconditional support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders”, — quotes Mogherini, the press service of the MFA of Ukraine.
P. Klimkin, in turn, noted the need for further active involvement of the EU to the process of stabilization of the situation in the East of Ukraine and expressed gratitude for the continuation of EU sanctions against Russia and for the extension of the sanctions list by including companies involved in the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Strait.
“In this context, the interlocutors agreed on the need for a separate discussion of Russia’s actions in the waters of the Azov sea, which pose a threat to the companies of member States of the EU, calling at Ukrainian ports”, — stated in the message.
The parties also discussed topical issues of bilateral relations Ukraine-EU, including preparation for the fifth meeting of the Association Council EU-Ukraine (to be held in Brussels on 17 December), as well as the Ministerial meeting of the Eastern partnership (to be held in Luxembourg on 15 October).
“In this context, the Minister noted the need for new approaches to apply the principles “more for more” and further differentiation depending on the status and priorities of the EU’s relations with partner countries”, — reported in the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
