Assistant Secretary of state for European and Eurasian Wes Mitchell notes that the Organization for security and cooperation in Europe needs to redouble its efforts in response to Russian aggression in Ukraine.
About that Mitchell said at the meeting of the Council of foreign Ministers of the OSCE in Milan, which is broadcast on the OSCE website.
“The ongoing aggression of Russia against Ukraine demonstrates the need for us to redouble our efforts in the OSCE,” said Mitchell.
He noted that the United States condemn the illegal actions of Russia in Ukraine. “It was egregious acts of hostilities,” said Mitchell.

According to him, an armed attack on the Ukrainian court was evidence of a trend of continued Russian aggression, which violates all 10 fundamental principles of the Helsinki final act, which Russia has pledged to uphold.
“We call on Russia to end its aggression in Ukraine, to release the detained sailors and their ships, to return control of Crimea to Ukraine and stop creating obstacles for unarmed civilian OSCE observers,” – said Mitchell.
“The OSCE can not turn a blind eye when Russia attacks on national sovereignty, on the borders of their neighbors, knocks the drones of the Special monitoring mission, undermines basic human freedom and weakens our overall security,” stressed Mitchell.
