Ukraine and USA discussed the projects of strengthening of cyber security election systems and critical infrastructure

The second round of interagency Ukrainian-American consultations in the field of cybersecurity took place on 5 November in Kiev, the official website of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

“In the event Ukraine and the United States reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring an open, safe and secure cyberspace, agreeing to deepen bilateral cooperation in the field of cyber security to combat cyber threats,” — said in the message.

The foreign Ministry noted that the confirmation of execution from the United States with their commitments is providing Ukraine with technical assistance in the amount of $10 million “to strengthen cyber security”.

“The parties also discussed the new assistance projects aimed at strengthening the cybersecurity of electoral systems and the critical infrastructure of Ukraine, support the implementation of national cyber strategies of Ukraine, strengthening of response capabilities to cyber incidents, raising awareness in the field of cybersecurity and training in the areas of cybersecurity and digital forensics,” — said the Ukrainian foreign Ministry.

The delegation of Ukraine included representatives of the foreign Ministry, the NSDC, the Ministry of defence, the Ministry of energy and coal industry of Ukraine, security service, foreign intelligence Service, Department of postal and telecommunications of Ukraine, the State service for special communication and information protection State service of financial monitoring, national Bank, National electoral Commission, the National Institute for strategic studies and the National Commission on securities and stock market.

The US delegation included representatives of the State Department, Department of defense, Department of energy, the Department of homeland security, Federal Bureau of investigation and the Agency for international development (USAID).
